Newsletter - Spring 2010

Dear Bournstream member,

There were many special things to enjoy & celebrate last season - with record numbers joining the playsite, the creation of our rejuvenated water play area (in Barbara Saxton's memory) & with so much loyal help & generous support from our volunteers, friends & community groups.

The play site officially re-opens from Saturday, 27th March - & will stay open until the end of November.

There are some new photo's & other information & news on our website :

Please do remember to tell others about all that Bournstream has to offer - all the joining details & our site rules are also on the website. Copies of our leaflet are always available in the toilet house to give others.

Our new bike, trike & wheelchair "circuit" (as Barbara hoped) has proved really popular - we do have some vehicles (including a learners, pedal-free bike) but do also bring your own, & helmets to be safe!

The new water play area has truly put the stream back into Bournstream! (if the number of 'lost' socks after paddling expeditions are anything to go by). Please remember it can get slippery through the season - so you may want to bring wellies for some extra grip?

We enjoy fantastic support each year - but any other DONATIONS (or fundraising) are always very welcome - full details are on our website, including the 'extra' we can claim through GIFT AID. Thank you.

Some important reminders:
  • The PADLOCK combination number (for the two entrance gates) is 2010. But you will still need your key for the toilet house. (each season the combination number is the same as the year!)
  • Please ring & report any damage or other problems, suchas padlocks - using the phone numbers on/in the toilet house.
  • Do remember to use the hygienic hand gels after sand & water play.
  • Please take any litter home, tidy up after yourselves & put vehicles under cover to help them last out longer
  • For everyone's safety please close & lock all gates immediately behind you every time you come or go.

We hope Bournstream continues to meet your needs - for "a safe adventure", some space, peace & quality time together! Do make the most of all it offers & always remember to let others know about it too please.

We will NOT now post out our annual newsletter ( to save £! ) but it will be e-posted each Spring on our website - including news, photo's & useful news or reminders. And you can also send us messages, suggestions or feedback via our website - its really quick & easy to do. Its good for us to hear from you - both for your ideas & also your encouragement.

We hope this New Year is full of new opportunities & adventures - including some at Bournstream, we look forward to seeing you here!
